Elizabeth Alves

K-8 STREAM Teacher

This presentation will aim to aid in evaluating the strengths and strategies needed to educate neuro-diverse students in STEM education. An introduction to the UN Sustainability Goals will be given in an effort to bring together the larger picture of supporting DEI with a short research synopsis behind the motive and pedagogy of a more rigorous STEM program for all students.

    Presenter’s bio

Elizabeth Alves is a K-8 STREAM Teacher and Academic Support Specialist in the US. She has over 20 years of experience in education, and has long been inspired to integrate STEM concepts into teaching her students as young as the preschool age. She observed that incorporating a STEM focus into any curriculum could prove to be a positive experience for her students, particularly for her learning and emotionally disabled students. Since then, she has built a full K-8 program incorporating STEM for disabled students that meets or exceeds standards set forth in public schools.
